An overarching European context for major winter events

The Milan-Cortina Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games are the first Winter Games to be held in Europe for twenty years. They take place within a context marked by challenges related to sustainability, the development of Alpine regions and the adaptation of organizational models for major international sporting events, and directly precede those to be held in the French Alps in 2030.

It is within this framework that Business France, in partnership with the French Embassy in Italy and the French Ministry for Sports, Youth and Community Life, is organizing a business event in Milan on February 5, 2026, prior to the opening ceremony of the Games. This event aims to create a forum for dialogue between businesses, economic decision-makers and institutional stakeholders involved in the major winter sporting events sector.

This initiative also takes place within the context of particularly close economic relations between France and Italy, with Italy ranking among the leading foreign investors in France, positioned third among investing countries (source: Annual Report 2025: Foreign Investment in France).

Businesses well prepared for major international sporting events

This business event highlights firms with recognized expertise in major international sporting events, particularly in the fields of engineering, equipment, development, services and technologies applied to mountain environments.

Participating businesses include Loxam, a leading player in equipment rental solutions for major events, Artelia, specializing in the engineering and design of complex infrastructures, as well as TechnoAlpin, recognized for its snowmaking technology solutions, and the GL Events group.

Together, they illustrate the capacity of the French and European ecosystems to offer concrete and operational solutions, adapted to the economic, environmental and climate challenges faced by the host nations.

An event supported by leading institutional figures

Organized as a conference and networking session, this business event brings together French and Italian institutional representatives, foreign delegations present in Milan, as well as members of the Franco-Italian business community.

It is taking place in the presence of Marina Ferrari, French Minister for Sports, Youth and Community Life, Damien Combredet-Blassel, French Ambassador for Sport, as well as Amélie Oudea-Castera, President of the French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF) and Marie-Cécile Tardieu, Chief Operating Officer (Investment Division) of Business France.

The event also brings together the Olympic Delivering Authority (SOLIDEO) and the Organizing Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games (COJOP) French Alps 2030, alongside representatives of local authorities and business players involved in major international sporting events.

A measure in line with Business France’s ongoing commitment

By organizing this event in Milan to highlight the French sports sector and its firms, Business France is continuing its work around major international sporting events, which include the “France, Land of Champions” operations carried out during the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games and the “Business France Rugby Clubs” events launched for the 2023 Rugby World Cup. These events are key drivers for economic networking, supporting French businesses internationally, as well as promoting French economic and tourist attractiveness, with the upcoming 2030 French Alps Games in sight.
