For this first convening of the Mediterranean Decarbonization Meetings, Business France brought together businesses, institutions and economic partners alongside TotalEnergies, the Aix-Marseille-Provence Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the International Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Africalink.

The purpose was clear: to connect solutions, projects and decision-makers. For two days, more than 150 participants, including 110 French businesses, explored new avenues for cooperation with delegations from eight countries around the Mediterranean. In total, 170 qualified business meetings led to definite prospects for low-carbon solutions.

The roundtables and high-level presentations addressed the major challenges of decarbonization, including low-carbon industry, transport and logistics, renewable energy, water management, financing the environmental transition and sustainable innovation. Participants all shared a common conviction that decarbonization is built through cooperation, expertise and connecting the right partners at the right time.

These meetings also confirmed the potential of the Mediterranean basin, from industry and energy to transport, water and finance, with each sector opening up new opportunities for French businesses committed to the ecological transition. The B2B meetings facilitated exchanges with clients, infrastructure operators, investors and international project developers.

On June 30, the foreign delegations continued their discussions on site. A visit to the Port Center of Marseille-Fos highlighted the logistical, industrial and energy ambitions of the French port. The ALTèreNATIVE plant, for its part, illustrated the conversion of non-recyclable waste into solid recovered fuels.

These immersive experiences showcased solutions that are already operational. Through the circular economy, energy recovery and emissions reduction, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur is demonstrating its ability to develop useful, tangible and exportable projects.

A collective dynamic is underway to accelerate decarbonization in the Mediterranean region and to transform environmental challenges into sustainable opportunities for cooperation, growth and high impact.
