"Exporting is a marathon, not a sprint."

Sabine and Olivier Grataloupt, leaders of AETHEO, share their experience at ProWein.

20/03/2025

AETHEO brings together a community of French family-owned wine estates, sharing a passion for wine, high standards, and a long-term vision for their properties. Their mission is to promote these estates internationally as exclusive agents, highlighting wine regions such as Provence, Rhône Valley, Loire, Burgundy, Savoie, Beaujolais, Champagne...

"ProWein is an important event for us. It's an opportunity to meet our clients, prospect, and develop our network. This year, we have 20 appointments scheduled, mainly thanks to the matchmaking platform, and all those announced yesterday showed up. Last year, we had 50 appointments at the fair, which convinced us to return. We also participate in Wine Paris, as well as Millésime Bio, key moments in our export strategy."

"Our collaboration with Business France is mainly realized at ProWein, but not only. We will soon join their marketplace to gain visibility. We have also benefited from their support at several fairs, such as Foodex in Japan, where they helped us organize a meeting between a client and one of our estates. Thanks to this connection, the estate was listed, and as proof of the effectiveness of this support, the client is present at ProWein!"

A piece of advice for succeeding in export?

"Exporting is a marathon, not a sprint. Blood, sweat, and tears... I'm joking! But the reality is that it takes a lot of work, patience, and real responsiveness. In 11 years, we have managed to expand into 30 countries, which speaks to the undeniable attractiveness of French wines. But today, in an uncertain context, you have to reassure your partners, be available and responsive. Making good wines is essential. Our added value is our ability to quickly meet expectations and solve clients' problems. It may seem obvious, but it's not so common!"
